When the one Mimulus started to look a bit ragged, I thought I had done something wrong with the planting/care (I actually thought it was getting too much shade compared to the sister plant), so I planted it further down the slope at about the same conditions as the other, and then I stopped watering both so they could do their summer thing. Time will tell.
On a side note; it seems I've been entering the wrong URL for my own blog. Duh! I'll be using the correct URL now. I definitely recommend it. G. stricta may be good in some yards too, but it's not allowed back in mine!

With the Mimulus, I find the amount of shade they're in makes a huge difference in when they give up the ghost for the summer. Is that the case with yours, Jan?

Thanks both for comments!Jesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15272700674477772662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4301462538120435872.post-11672949587204492282010-07-14T08:52:49.937-07:002010-07-14T08:52:49.937-07:00Beautiful photos!

Now I have several Grindelia hirsutula, and the idea of anything closely related to them growing to six feet tall is mind-boggling. Mine seem pretty happy to stay at their expected two feet.Queer by Choicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14926850867846286427noreply@blogger.com
